Theology and Knitting

This past weekend was something of a blur due in large part to the fact that I had a class Friday night and all day Saturday (this will only happen once a month, four times, and the class will be over). The only thing that really stands out about that time is the fact that I discovered how much I like theology. As in, it makes my soul happy.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect going into class. I had read some of Wayne Grudem's book and found it interesting, but something in my Systematic Theology class clicked even more and I found myself in a very happy place. Though it could also have something to do with the fact that I started knitting a scarf. Last Thursday, after class it hit me that I am a very bad student if I do not have something in my hands.
I knew this in undergrad - I always had a book, sudoku puzzle or scarf going (I eventually gave up the book and sudoku as I discovered that my teachers were not really fond of that), but crocheting/knitting stuck and helped me through many a boring class in undergrad. I thought that coming to seminary would somehow eliminate the need for something in my hands. How wrong I was.
Knitting puts me at ease and keeps me from fidgeting or taking obsessively obscene amounts of notes. Thus making a Friday night and all day Saturday class much more enjoyable, though I will still stand by my statement that theology makes my soul happy.
